Miguel is one of the most passionate and driven designers I have worked with in my career. Miguel joined Relic to work on Company of Heroes 3 as a Gameplay Designer and it was a perfect fit.
Miguel’s formal education and personal drive towards growth have given him: the technical skills of a junior programmer, expertise in all facets of RTS core gameplay, and a designer mindset capable of setting the direction and leading the execution for a small team.
Outside of working on an RTS, Miguel has also worked diligently to become a more well-rounded designer – taking lessons from different titles and genres and working on how this new knowledge can be applied to our legacy project as well as new titles.
I would not hesitate to bring in Miguel for any project and would be very happy to work with him again as he continues to grow.

I had the pleasure of working with Miguel on Company of Heroes 3 when I was filling the design director role. Miguel was one of the most talented designers on my team, both in what he brought to the table and how fast he learned new skills and techniques.
As a top-tier player himself, Miguel brought a deep understanding of the way players engaged with the game and how that translated into game mechanics and user-facing features.
Miguel was able to master the technical nuances of our proprietary engine in very little time and it wasn’t long before he was one of the best at implementing new units and combat mechanics. His ability to understand the overall player experience and communicate ways to improve it lead to our team putting Miguel in charge of an agile strike team where his leadership ability had the chance to grow and shine.
Miguel is definitely one of the brightest rising stars I’ve had an opportunity to work with and I have no doubt his career will see him achieve great things!

I worked with João at Relic on Company of Heroes 3 and was very impressed with the speed that he was able to take on new tasks and fully understand complex game systems. He quickly became a go to person with a broad understanding of the game. He was at home working on the game in proprietary tools with little or no direction or documentation and impressed everyone that worked with him. In addition to his top tier Technical Design skills he has a computer science/engineering background that he demonstrated with a good understanding of producing reusable modifiable scripting in proprietary tools.
